Inviting your family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers to church does not have to be difficult. In fact, 9 out of 10 unchurched people say they would attend church if only someone invited them! When you share your weekend plans, include an invitation to church. For example, you could go grab coffee before church or get lunch together afterwards. If your friends enjoy the beach, let them know your church meets just four blocks away from the Oceanfront (how awesome is that)! You can give them a ride to church and then head to the beach after service.
Regardless of how you choose to approach the invitation, just be natural, and pray for the Holy Spirit's direction beforehand. Prayerfully consider Saint Peter's words in I Peter 3:15, "always [be] prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect." Ask God to give you the unwavering courage and desire to reach those who do not yet have a relationship with Him.
If you are still unsure about inviting someone, remember: Jesus Christ died and rose again, not so you could keep the hope of redemption to yourself, but so you can share it with others! Because of Christ's sacrifice we are redeemed from our past mistakes, encouraged in our present circumstances, and destined to spend eternity with God in heaven. The only way people are going to hear this lifesaving message is if we tell them! Recall the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 10:14, "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?" As Christ followers, we have an active role to play in sharing the Gospel message with others.
